The Present Day

The "present day" takes place in the early 2260s, with the human population hovering around 13 billion, arrayed across dozens of planets connected by advanced portals that allow for instant travel regardless of distance.

Occupied planets range from surprisingly Earth-like, seeded with Earth plants and animals, to warped and alien landscapes altered by the mysterious technology used to terraform them.

Humanity long ago discovered their latent psychic potential, developing it over the ensuing centuries into a multitude of abilities, both mundane and spectacular, with the use of specialized techniques and genomic technology.

Advances in genetic engineering have forever changed what it means to be human, with a number of subspecies and offshoots intermingling with baselines

The human diaspora — the people no longer living on Earth — have flourished into an untold number of kingdoms, collectives, clans, democracies, and tyrannical autocracies, each with their own history, culture, and customs.

War still plagues human existence, from small skirmishes to vast, multi-planetary conflicts. For the last few years, the Global Alliance of Affiliated Nations — a group of Earth's old superpowers — has waged a Restoration Campaign to impose "order" and control over their former planets, while Red Bloc, an influential power based on a terraformed Mars, manipulates smaller societies from the shadows.

Outside of armed conflict, the diaspora progresses in countless ways, making new scientific discoveries, re-contacting lost planets, exploring new ones, mapping the possibilities of the human mind, and struggling against strange, metaphysical threats.

It's a world with small, intimate, grounded stories and big, operatic adventures.

It's a world of diversity, danger, miracles, and mystery.

It's a world we build together.
