The Standard Psychic Theory is a complex scientific theory describing the nature of consciousness and its relationship to the physical world. The initial basis for the Standard Psychic Theory came from a series of CIA-funded University research projects around 1962 CE, evolving over time as knowledge of psychic abilities spread and more research could be added and refined.
A subject of heavy study and experimentation over the last 200 years, the Standard Psychic Theory is considered a major cornerstone of modern-day scientific understanding and the foundation of psychic development.
Competing, though far less widely ascribed theories include the Geomagnetic Transferrence Theory, Captured Simulation Theory, and Fifth Force Theory, as well as more spiritual frameworks such as Multidimensionalism, Gawardiism, and One Soul Universe.
Experience is a fundamental facet of the universe, like particles and fields.
Consciousness is required for Experience, similar to how the strong nuclear force is required for Matter.
Consciousness is a field that pervades the entire universe, weakly interacting with matter and energy, and which seems to exist outside of space and time.
Everything has a degree of consciousness. Particles, rocks, stars, germs. Everything.
Consciousness is connected to complexity as gravity is connected to mass. The more complex a system is, the more consciousness it has.
At a complex enough stage, systems begin to Experience. The human brain is one such system.
Thus a stable universe must Experience itself.
As entropy increases, so too does Consciousness, and thus Experience. Universes that do not give rise to Experience either do not cohere or collapse quickly after forming, perhaps due to some facet of Consciousness' interaction with matter and energy. This may be a reasonable solution to the Fine Tuning Problem of physics.
Similarly, consciousness is not separate from matter and energy. E=mc2 describes only the non-conscious world. It is incomplete.
E=mc2=C where C equals consciousness presents a more complete view.
Consciousness can be converted to energy or matter and vice versa, forming the fundamental principle of what Psychic Abilities are.
For example, the conversion of caloric energy to extend one's consciousness to another's is telepathy. The conversion of consciousness to kinetic energy is telekinesis. The conversion of consciousness into thermal energy is pyrokinesis. So on and so on.
It is theoretically possible that consciousness could be converted directly into matter, though the amount of said consciousness would have to be astronomical. No consciousness, human or otherwise, has ever been shown to achieve this.
As with many scientific thoeries, there remains a small number of unanswered questions and implications.
Chief among them are:
